The Outer Worlds has officially launched its first expansion in Peril on Gorgon. The expansion can be purchased individually or comes included with The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass. The new expansion is already available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The version for the Nintendo Switch is going to be released at a later date.
The Peril on Gorgon expansion starts with a cryptic message that invites players to investigate the Gorgon Asteroid. This remote scientific facility was considered a crowning achievement in developing Adrena-Time. Indeed, this modern marvel not only improved health, but also worker productivity. The program was suddenly shut down without any explanation, however.
In this expansion, players need to go through deep canyons, defunct laboratories, and even abandoned research facilities. Ultimately the goal is to piece together the different clues in order to find the truth of the Spacer’s Choice corporation’s darkest secret.
In addition to the new content, the expansion also ups the level cap within The Outer Worlds. This should give players more flexibility when it comes to customization. There’s also going to be more perks that hand out rare bonuses or flaws and give unique obstacles. That’s not all, as Peril On Gorgon also introduces three new science weapons plus a wide range of new armor sets.
In a statement, Obsidian Entertainment Game Director Carrie Patel said that in developing this expansion, they wanted to further explore Halcyon’s corporations, particularly the seedier side. Patel went on to say that with the new expansion, player get to “explore an exciting new location filled with intrigue and threats, and they can uncover dangerous secrets about Spacer’s Choice.”
Meanwhile, Private Division Vice-President of Production Allen Murray shared that “The Outer World is a deeply satisfying RPG, full of the player choice and a rich narrative audiences have come to expect from Obsidian, and Peril on Gorgon is a true to form expansion.” He added that the expansion brings players back to the Halcyon colony and offers “even more of the dark humor, compelling story, and exciting adventures.”
The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon is available for $14.99 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Peril on Gorgon is also offered in a bundle for $24.99, which also includes the second expansion Murder on Eridanos. Murder on Eridanos will be released in the first half of 2021.
