Overwatch’s Roadhog got nerfed pretty hard, and now Principal Designer Geoff Goodman and the rest of his development team want to do it again. In a post on the Blizz.net forums on Thursday, Goodman said that they want to nerf his hook, but give him a little more punch in his gun. Last patch, Roadhog got his “Hook 2.0” which completely reworked the ability and made it more manageable to fight against. The OW team thinks he’s still just a little too strong, so here’s one more nerf to hopefully balance the pig man out.
To pair alongside that side of pork, Goodman is giving everyone’s space ape a little love. Winston’s a very large gorilla with a head to match. The tesla gun wielding primate is getting his critical hit volume reduced by 15 percent. This won’t turn him into the OP powerhouse tank that will signal the end of balance in Overwatch, but it is a nice buff. When I play Winston, I want to jump on the enemy Torbjorn or Soldier: 76 and zap them to death. After this change, I might even survive to jump again.
Here are the full list of changes:
Roadhog
Scrap Gun Spread decreased by 20%
Chain Hook
Targets are now pulled to a location 3.5 meters away, up from 2 meters.
Cooldown increased from 6 to 8
Winston
Critical hit volume reduced by 15%
These changes should hit the Private Testing Realm somewhere in the next couple of weeks.
