Oasis, the newest map coming to Overwatch
Oasis, the newest map coming to Overwatch Blizzard

Blizzcon 2016 is finally over and I’m exhausted. There were insane announcements, crazy eSports games and even a giant Reinhardt or two. Blizzard spent a lot of time wowing us with Overwatch’s next hero Sombra and the announcement of the brand new Overwatch League. Blizzard snuck in a couple more reveals, announcing two brand-new maps coming to the game sometime in the near future. Here’s everything we know about Oasis and Ecopoint: Antarctica.

Oasis

  • A desert turned into a mechanical marvel, the Oasis is an “advanced metropolis” in the middle of a barren desert. Set in the Middle East, the Oasis is a testament to human ingenuity. Its architecture resembles Numbani, one of the most technologically advanced cities in the Overwatch universe.

  • Oasis will be a Control style map, similar to Illos, Nepal and Lijiang Tower.

  • There will be Omnic butlers.

  • This will be the first map to feature jump pads, a brand-new concept for Overwatch. I’m not entirely sure why this technologically advanced Oasis has random electronic trampolines, but who I am to judge progress?

  • We have only seen early work in progress shots of Oasis, but the map should hit the PTR sometime in December.

  • The map wasn’t playable at Blizzcon, no matter how many times I begged.

Ecopoint: Antarctica

Ecopoint: Antarctica

  • This is the watchpoint where Mei entered cryostasis and was discovered years later by a rescue team.

  • Ecopoint: Antarctica will only be playable in the new Arcade game mode – you won’t see it anywhere else.

  • We know next to nothing about this map, other than that you will be able to play 1v1 and 3v3 games to the death in this frozen wasteland.

  • The map, alongside Arcade mode, will be coming to the PTR next week.
