Overwatch 2 might be far away, but the original game is still here. Game developer Blizzard released a small update yesterday, and it's solely focused on balancing changes. No bug fixes, improvements, or new features are brought to Overwatch. The cross-play feature that was brought by the last update is still in the beta phase.
Hitscan damage received the most amount of change. The maximum falloff damage for Hitscan damage is now 30% from the previous 50%. This change is applied to Ashe, Baptiste, Bastion, McCree, Soldier: 76, Widowmaker, and Wrecking Ball. The said damage change is not very noticeable yet will make the game more balanced.
Here are the other tweaks that were done on different Heroes by the July 1 update:
HERO CHANGES
BASTION
Developers made Bastion's Configuration: Recon weapon more reliable to strengthen his run-and-gun gameplay.
Configuration: Recon
Weapon spread reduced from 1.5 to 1.2
D.VA
She no longer builds ultimate charge in the window of time between using Self Destruct and when it detonates is targeted at Echo's Duplicate ability for D.Va.
Call Mech
Damage area reduced from 3 to 2.5 meters
No longer builds ultimate charge while using Self Destruct until after her mech detonates
SOLDIER: 76
Small work on Tactical Visor puts it beyond aim assist.
Heavy Pulse Rifle
Damage falloff is disabled while Tactical Visor is active
WIDOWMAKER
Developers adjusted her optimal range to be slightly further out to account for common counter-sniping spots but just barely outside of the effective range with the damage falloff. However, the sniping damage falloff for the hero is mainly to restrict the lethality of mid-air grapple shots at the extreme distances on some maps.
Widow's Kiss
Damage falloff range increased from 60-85 to 70-100 meters
