A new expansion is coming to Path of Exile and is expected to offer a lot of new content. The new expansion is titled Lake of Kalandra and has players explore the namesake of the famous Mirror of Kalandra while also giving them a taste of the power of Kalandra.
The expansion is launching on August 19 on PC and on August 24 on PlayStation and Xbox.
ExileCon 2023
Before we go into the details of the upcoming expansion, Grinding Gear Games revealed that ExileCon 2023 is going to be in Auckland, New Zealand from July 29 to July 30, 2023. In addition to being able to attend talks by the developers, attendees can also play Path of Exile 2 and Path of Exile Mobile. Tickets go on sale starting August 25, 2022.
Features of the Lake of Kalandra expansion include:
- The Kalandra Challenge League
- Head over to the mirrored lake that granted Kalandra her powers of duplication to fight reflections of Wraeclast.
- Uncover Kalandra’s mysteries and unlock true power.
- Mirrored Tablet
- While journeying through Wraeclast, players can occasionally discover Mirrored Tablets that allow them to place reflections of dangerous encounters in the Mirror and open a portal to the Lake of Kalandra.
- Within the lake, players experience the reflections of Wraeclast, with the encounters increasing in difficulty and rewards the farther away from the entrance they are.
- As players progress through the league, they get to unlock special abilities to skip, reroll and exile choices that are offered.
- This lets players refine Tablets more efficiently.
- In the endgame, completed Tablets can be itemized to save them for later or trade them away.
- Endgame Improvements - Atlas Memories
- Atlas Memories offer a way to explore endgame content and earn very valuable rewards without having to specialize in the Atlas Tree for it.
- In high-level maps, players can find a rare Memory item representing memories from Alva, Niko, Einhar, or Kirac.
- These highly challenging and rewarding Memories can either be applied to your Atlas or traded to other players.
- New Balancing Changes
- Many changes have been made to the game’s balance.
- This includes an overhaul of the Trickster Ascendancy Class which now has a focus on establishing thematically-appropriate defenses as well as ways to manipulate speed.
- New Skill and Support Gems
- This expansion introduces three new skill gems and one new support gem.
- Three of these focus on lightning and shock.
- Revamped Content
- Rare and magic monsters throughout the game have been overhauled.
- Difficulty and rewards of Archnemesis mods have been revisited.
- Beyond has been revamped.
- Large changes have been made to Harvest.
The new expansion arrives with Content Update 3.19.0, which you can read more about here. Path of Exile is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
