A new entry in the co-op heist-focused series by Overkill Software, aka Payday, has finally been confirmed. The Swedish developer revealed the logo of Payday 3 at the start of this year, while a trailer showcased a short of New York with four characters looking far away in the distance. The footage then cuts to the logo, but no actual gameplay footage was shown.
Details about Payday 3
The 24-second clip didn’t reveal much but it did mention a few important things. Payday 3 will mainly take place in New York and feature the original crew from Payday: The Heist. Their code names are “Dallas,” “Chains,” “Wolf,” and “Hoxton.”
The game will launch on PC and consoles in 2023 and utilize Unreal Engine 4. We don’t know if the title will be available on PS4 and Xbox One, or if it will prioritize the newer consoles. More information should be revealed as time goes by.
Steam Page Live
As of right now, the Steam page of Payday 3 is already up and running. While you can’t pre-order the game, you can wishlist it. The store page does mention a few things like the support for single-player and online co-op.
Just like previous games, it will feature mature content like gun violence against law enforcement and civilians. You can also expect mentions of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and more. If you have played previous Payday games, then these shouldn’t come as a surprise to you.
About the Game
Payday 3 has been known to be in development for a long time. Starbreeze Studios, the current developer of the game, announced the title in 2017 when it acquired the rights. The last major game in the series, Payday 2, was released a decade ago, which received positive reception. However, its monetization method was heavily criticized by fans. We hope the same won’t be true for the highly-anticipated sequel.
In other news, you can purchase Payday 2 for a dollar, thanks to Steam Winter Sale.
