According to Atlus, further details about Persona 5 will be available on a special NicoNico livestream on May 5 at 9 p.m JST (8:30 a.m EST).
The promotional poster reads “I will take Tokyo Tower on May 5” in a message from “The Phantom,” a mysterious figure who’s made appearances in Persona 5 related material in the past. The big countdown to May 5 on the official website may be related to release date news for Persona 5, making this a very special livestream indeed.
The livestream can be watched here when the event takes place. Atlus hasn’t released much info about what to expect from the stream, so let the speculation run rampant.
Further information about the game, including tidbits about world and character design as well as more information about the characters, check out this interview in Persona magazine from series chief director Katsura Hashino.
According to Hashino, “For this game, we’re going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance…. This time, it’s about a group of high school students that are being “chased” by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We’re writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting.”
Persona 5 was originally scheduled for a winter 2014 release date on PlayStation 3, then announced for PlayStation 4 as well and delayed to 2015. Currently, Persona 5 is expected to release in summer 2016 in Japan, with North America getting the game sometime in 2016. As Atlus PR has made clear, a Persona 5 PC port will unfortunately not be happening .
