In a recent Koei Tecmo financial report, it was confirmed that Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers will soon be coming to North America and Europe. The hack-and-slash role-playing game, which was released earlier this year for Japan and Asia (February 20th and June 18th, respectively, for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch), was shown on the financial report to also receive a release for North America and Europe on the same platforms. No release date has been confirmed yet, but it is speculated that Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers should be released no later than March 2021.
For those who don’t know, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is a crossover title between Koei Tecmo’s hack and slash series Dynasty Warriors and Atlus’ role-playing game franchise Persona, itself part of the Shin Megami Tensei universe. The combination of the two genres means that players get to experience both turn-based and real time combat. Players assume the role of Joker, the game’s protagonist, who has the ability to wield multiple Personas.
The Phantom Strikers starts off six months after the events of Persona 5. When the Phantom Thieves of Hearts get together for a summer vacation, they unknowingly get wrapped up in a new mystery that is popping up all over Japan, with the group being pointed to as the prime suspects. They must again set out and resolve this mystery once and for all. The Phantom Strikers takes place in Shibuya, with specific levels and sections weaving back and forth from the city’s bustling landscapes to the heart of Shibuya that has been transformed into a different world.
Since its release almost half a year ago, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers has enjoyed considerable commercial success with almost 500,000 copies sold across Asia and Japan. The franchise has really been on an unbelievable tear lately, with the recent release of Persona 4 Golden for the PC and the news that the Persona 5 anime series is officially getting an English dub.
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is currently available in Asia and Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
