It looks like the fight between flora and the undead has spilled over to Nintendo Switch. Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition is set to be released to the platform on March 19. Switch players not only get to enjoy the content released on other platforms but also the post-launch content.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is actually the third in the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series. That series in particular is a spin-off of the original Plants vs. Zombies game. Unlike the original game, the Garden Warfare series is a third-person shooter where players get to choose between Zombies and Plants in a multiplayer environment.
For the Complete Edition, Switch players take on hilarious missions while defeating different bosses to collect medals as well as unlock some truly superb outfits. Players also get access to 23 characters, all of which are fully customizable, and access to all cosmetic items that’s been released. All of these are offered as in-game unlockables, instead of purchasable items in a premium store.
Players can team up and get some excellent 8v8 multiplayer action. In each match, players are classified into either attackers, defenders, supporters, or swarm. There are different modes to try out like Team Vanquish, a team deathmatch variant, or Turf Takeover.
It’s not all PvP since the game also includes PvE open zones.
PopCap Vancouver Producer Melvin Teo revealed that they’re more than happy to bring the game to a new platform. He added that with the motion controls of Switch, players are sure to enjoy a fresh take on the game.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville was released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2019. Reviews were generally positive with critics saying that it managed to offer a fun and silly gameplay experience. Criticisms were mainly focused on how the game wasn’t able to exceed expectations and the changes weren’t all that better.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville for Switch is available for $39.99 and can be pre-ordered here.
