Sony’s PlayStation VR release date will likely be pushed to later on this year, according to Gamestop CEO Paul Raines. The company told Fox News they are preparing for the big VR headset launches and Sony’s PlayStation VR won’t come before first half of 2016 as previously stated by company.
"We are right now preparing for the launches of the major VR products," Raines told Fox News. "We're in discussions with Oculus, HTC, and Sony. It's a big launch, we're getting ready for it. We will launch the Sony product this fall and we are in discussions with the other two players."
Sony has yet to comment on Raines’ statements about the PlayStation VR. Raines spoke during the ICR Conference 2016 (via Gamespot ) back in January about the battle of the VR headsets later this year will ultimately come down to the games. The Gamestop CEO stressed the title libraries will help determine which VR headsets dominate the market. Raines believes Sony has the better games as of this January.
“The more important thing will be the title count at launch," Raines told the ICR Conference. "I think that’s going to be big. And from what we can see at this point, Sony seems to have the strongest title count.”
