PlayStation Vue Gets Multi-View Feature Just In Time For March Madness

PlayStation Vue users are getting a rare bit of good news this week, thanks to a new feature that should prove especially popular with sports fans. We’re not sure it’ll be enough to win back former Vue subscribers, particularly if they left after last year’s channel culling, but it’ll be easier to enjoy March Madness when the annual NCAA tournament begins next week.

Multi-view is a new feature that will let PlayStation Vue subscribers watch up to three channels at the same time. It’s probably not going to do you much good if you just use Vue to catch up on your favorite sitcoms or dramas, but it’s practically a godsend for people trying to watch all of the college basketball that will be played in the coming weeks. Its also useful for news junkies, who might enjoy having CNN or Fox News running silently on the side while a less depressing form of entertainment fills most of the screen.

Unfortunately, Multi-view is only available on PlayStation 4 and there’s no word on whether we can expect to see the feature expand to other platforms at any point in the future. The first response to today’s announcement was a question about if/when subscribers might expect to see Multi-view on the PS Vue Android app. But the response from Sony representative Mary Taing, a pretty standard “ nothing today but thanks for asking,” certainly doesn’t suggest we’ll see Multi-view on other devices before the NCAA tournament begins on March 14.

Maybe it’ll be here in time for the NBA Playoffs?
