The holidays usually mean cold weather in some parts of the world. However, in Pokémon GO, it looks like there’s a chill in the air and even a tapping. Turns out there’s only one cause and it’s none other than Galarian Mr. Mime. This Pokémon, and its Evolution Mr. Rime, were both first discovered in the Galar region. Well, the two are heading to the game through a ticketed Special Research story event.
Special Research Story
This special event starts December 19 at 10:00 AM (local time) and ends December 20 at 8:00 PM (local time). As ticketed, it means Trainers need to buy a ticket to join. The ticket is priced at $7.99.
Here are the features of this new event:
- Get access to a new Special Research line featuring an encounter with a Galarian Mr. Mime—its first appearance in Pokémon GO.
- Get the chance to earn enough Mr. Mime Candy by the end of the Special Research story to evolve Galarian Mr. Mime into a Mr. Rime.

A Time to be Cool
Before and during the special event, there’s also something for all Trainers. As Galarian Mr. Mime arrives in Pokémon GO, it’s going to inspire some cool, and even melodious, Pokémon. From December 18 to December 21, Pokémon like Jynx, Swinub, Spoink, Woobat, Cubchoo, will become attracted to Incense more often. Those lucky enough may even encounter a Shiny Cubchoo.
For this mini-event, Incense will be more effective at attracting Pokémon. Also, Incense activated during this period lasts for three hours.
By the way, Trainers can take advantage of the Incense boost whether they have a ticket for the Special Research story event or not.
So, are you cool enough to take on this event?
