The latest huge update to Pokémon Go was the inclusion of Ditto into the wild. The Pokémon that can transform into any other Pokémon can now be caught by Pokémon Go players.
And while the encounter rate for Ditto in Pokémon Go seems random, a big question surrounding the Pokémon is whether players using the Pokémon Go Plus can catch Ditto.
While there hasn’t been any word from Niantic about how the Pokémon Go Plus can be used to catch Ditto, there has been confirmation on several subreddits, including The Silph Road. Plenty of players claim the Pokémon Go Plus lights up green even if you haven’t caught Ditto yet and the journal will tell you if a Ditto ran away or is caught.
Some trainers suggest looking at the Pokédex to see if Pokémon Go Plus users have encountered Ditto. The Pokédex will say how many Dittos you’ve encountered and captured. If you have run into a Ditto while using the Pokémon Go Plus, it will say so here.
Trainers on these subreddits claim that they have caught Ditto using the Pokémon Go Plus (albeit with some low CP) so it seems that the accessory does work.
Questions regarding the Pokémon Go Plus were raised because of how the accessory works in-game. If a trainer encounters a Pokémon they haven’t captured yet, the accessory will blink yellow and they will have to open up the app and catch it themselves.
With Ditto being new to the game, it would make sense for a yellow light to blink when a Ditto is encountered but Ditto’s only attack, Transform, allows it to take the form of other Pokémon like Rattata and Pidgey.
It seems this sneaky Pokémon can even fool the Pokémon Go Plus.
