Niantic and the Pokémon Company will continue to update its uber popular Pokémon Go app, the company behind the game that has taken the world by storm said so themselves at Comic-Con International.

While trading is definitely coming, Niantic gave fans a taste of some of the ideas they want to do including breeding, PokeStop upgrades and, of course, adding more Pokémon.

UPDATE: Generation 2 has come to Pokemon Go. Check out the evolution guide, here.

As Pokémon Go digs into the first generation of Pokémon, where the franchise started, the next logical step in the addition of more Pokémon is to go into the Johto Region. And as with a lot of the new generations, some “legacy” Pokémon receive a new evolution added on to their line or a branch evolution.

To anticipate the inclusion of the Gen 2 Pokémon, we compiled a list of Pokémon you should stock up on so when the game updates you’ll be ready to evolve and fill your PokeDexes.

While many Pokémon fans will know this already, this is a little primer for those who don’t know or may have forgotten some of the evolutions that were introduced in Gen 2.

Eevee - Umbreon/Espeon

One of the most popular Pokémon in Pokémon Go is Eevee and its Eeveelutions. Niantic cleverly put in an Easter Egg to help players evolve their Eevee into the Eeveelution they want. But in Gen 2 Eevee gets two new evolutions in Umbreon and Espeon.

Umbreon, the Dark-Type and Espeon the Psychic-Type don’t have a cool Easter Egg like Jolteon, Vaporeon or Flareon but with Pokémon Go having a day/night cycle trainers can easily choose which Pokémon they want.

If you want Espeon, evolve Eevee during the day and for Umbreon evolve it at night.

Like the other Eeveelutions, expect 25 Eevee candies to evolve to Umbreon and Espeon.

Zubat - Crobat

Possibly the most annoying Pokémon to catch in the game. However, you’ll want to grin and bear it if you want to get Golbat’s evolution, Crobat.

This massive bat Pokémon will likely take 100 Zubat candy to evolve your Golbat but believe us when we say it’ll be worth it.

Oddish - Bellossom

The first of the branched evolutions of the Johto Region, Gloom normally evolves into Vileplume but in Gen 2 Bellossom was introduced.

The pure Grass-Type Pokémon may be smaller than its Grass and Poison-Type counterpart but don’t underestimate this ‘Mon.

It will likely take 100 Oddish candy to get Bellossom.

Horsea - Kingdra

Seadra evolves into Kingdra, the Water and Dragon-Type Pokémon and is only the third Dragon-Type in a Pokémon game (after the Dragonite line).

Like many Pokémon lines that have three Pokémon, you’ll need 100 Horsea candy to get a Kingdra.

Poliwag - Politoed

Politoed is another branch evolution, this time coming from Poliwhirl. Unlike the other branched evolution, Poliwrath, Politoed is a pure Water-type.

To evolve Politoed, you’ll likely need 100 Poliwag candies the same amount to evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath.

Slowpoke - Slowking

Slowpoke and Slowbro are some of the derpiest Pokémon in the game but Slowpoke’s other evolution, Slowking is the opposite. With the Shellder attaching itself to Slowpoke’s head instead of its tail, Slowking’s IQ grows.

Collect 50 Slowpoke candy to likely evolve your Slowpoke into Slowking.

Onix - Steelix

The Steel-type was introduced in Gen 2 and while the Magnemite line received the Steel typing, Onix’s evolution, Steelix is widely considered the first Steel-type.

The Steel and Ground-type Pokémon boasts some of the highest defenses in the game and with how rare Onix is in Pokémon Go, you’ll want to start collecting Onix candies now.

Expect to have to find 50 Onix candy to get your Steelix.

Scyther - Scizor

Another Gen 1 Pokémon whose evolution gained the Steel typing. Scyther’s evolution Scizor is one of the cooler looking Pokémon in any generation. It may not be as fast as Scyther but its added bulk and attack power makes up for the decrease in speed.

Like Onix, expect to have to collect 50 Scyther candy to get a Scizor.

Porygon - Porygon 2

Porygon is an odd Pokémon. It’s a Pokémon made from a computer program and actually evolves more than once (but that’s a story for another day) but in Gen 2, Porygon evolves into the aptly named, Porygon 2.

50 Porygon candies should let players get Porygon 2.

Chansey - Blissey

Finally, Chansey evolves in Gen 2 into Blissey. Blissey has one of the largest HP stats in Pokémon and you’ll need to start grinding for some Chansey candy because this Pokémon is not easy to find.

Like many two-stage evolutions, 50 Chansey candies should do the trick.
