The Pokémon Go Plus is getting some much needed updates this patch. Update 0.42.1 brings a ton of new changes to gyms, Pokémon capture rate and some hidden PoGo Plus updates. I’m not a fan of the little plastic vibrating toy because it has a terrible capture rate, vibrates non-stop and is really more annoying than useful. This patch attempts to fix some of these problems, making the PoGo Plus less of a chore and more of a useful peripheral.
Here’s everything that’s changed with the Pokémon Go Plus in Niantic’s last Pokémon Go patch via the Silph Road:
The PoGo Plus icon is now underneath the compass and can be clicked a little bit easier.
There’s a new pink icon over your avatar’s head when using the device, making it much easier to find out if you are still connected.
The device switches between Pokestops much faster, meaning that you won’t miss those sweet items if you walk out of range of a Pokestop while the animation on the previous one is still running.
Pokémon should now be easier to catch, badges now increase the capture rate on Pokémon you’ve caught before. For each badge tier, the likelihood of you catching a Pokémon goes up, though we aren’t sure of exact numbers. If a Pokémon is dual type, it uses the average of the two badges you have.
In settings, you can tell the PoGo Plus to ignore Pokémon or Pokestops. I cannot tell you how useful and amazing of a feature this is. I really don’t need my plastic watch to blink every five minutes when I’m at a Pokestop, especially when I’m trying to get work done. Now I can turn off the blue light without losing my ability to catch Pokémon I never would have seen otherwise.
When you open up the app to try and catch a Pokémon while the PoGo Plus is still connected, the device will no longer disconnect. That means if your device starts blinking and you don’t want whatever you found to run away, you can open up the app without having to repair your phone and device. It’s a minor big fix but it makes using the PoGo Plus so much more enjoyable.
