If you haven’t started your Pokémon Go adventure yet, what are you waiting for?! But in all seriousness, once you start Pokémon Go you will have the fateful choice of either Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle to be your first Pokémon.

However, Pokémon fans may be wondering if Pikachu can be chosen as a starter, because the yellow mouse was the starter for Pokémon Yellow .

Short answer is yes! Buuut it’s a bit tricky.

Thanks to Polygon for finding this out, but if you want Pikachu as your starter in Pokémon Go you’ll need to do this trick.

Be aware though, as Pokémon Go servers continue to struggle, you may have trouble pulling off the Pikachu starter trick. But if you can, you’ll have your ideal partner.

First off, once you are given the choice, DON’T tap on any of the three starters. You will actually have to walk away from the trio until they disappear. Unfortunately, Pokémon Go uses your GPS to put the trio back in front of your trainer.

According to Polygon, you have to do this FOUR times. If you do this correctly, the trio will reappear in front of you but with Pikachu as a choice.

Again, with the server issues plaguing Pokémon Go this trick may not work, but if you see Pikachu go ahead and tap it to initiate a battle and catch the Electric-type.

So go ahead and try the Pikachu trick on your own and let us know if it works for you -- or if you’d rather have Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle -- in the comments section below.
