Poliwag is the featured Pokémon for July 2023 Community Day in Pokémon GO. Trainers are going to see the Tadpole Pokémon appear more frequently in the wild. Those lucky enough may even encounter a Shiny version. The Community Day this month is on July 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., local time.
During the Community Day, the featured attacks are:
- Poliwrath
- Evolve Poliwhirl (Poliwag's Evolution) during the event or up to five hours afterward.
- Get a Poliwrath that knows the Fast Attack Counter.
- Counter
- Trainer Battles: 8 power
- Gyms and raids: 12 power
- Evolve Poliwhirl (Poliwag's Evolution) during the event or up to five hours afterward.
- Politoed
- Evolve Poliwhirl (Poliwag's Evolution) with a King's Rock during the event or up to five hours afterward.
- Get a Politoed that knows the Charged Attack Ice Beam.
- Ice Beam
- Trainer Battles: 90 power
- Gyms and raids: 90 power
- Evolve Poliwhirl (Poliwag's Evolution) with a King's Rock during the event or up to five hours afterward.
Event Bonuses
For this month's Community Day, the event bonuses are:
- 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event.
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- 2× chance for trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
- Lure Modules activated during the event last for three hours.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event lasts for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise.
- One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day.
- Trades will require 50% less Stardust.
Bonus Raid Battles
The Community Day may only be three hours but after that, there's still more to do. Trainers can test their skills on special four-star Raid Battles where Poliwhirl is set to appear. Those who win in any of these raids will trigger more Poliwag to appear for 30 minutes around the Gym which hosted the raid. This one starts from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., local time.
To join these raids, players need to have Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes. Remote Raid Passes can't be used for these Raid Battles.
Research Time
There's also a Timed Research from 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., local time. Completing this one rewards trainers with King's Rocks.
Meanwhile, trainers can also look forward to the July Community Day–themed Field Research. Just catch Poliwag and earn rewards including additional encounters with Poliwag, King's Rocks, and Ultra Balls.
