The long awaited PokémonGo buddy system update is finally coming out. Niantic announced a new way to earn candy, by walking your Pokemon, is coming to its breakout game. On the PokémonGo Facebook page, Niantic announced that the updated “version 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS devices” should be rolling out very shortly. Here are the full patch notes:
- Implemented Buddy Pokémon: Trainers will now be able to choose one of their Pokémon to be their buddy. A Trainer can earn Candy for their Buddy Pokémon by walking a certain distance.
- Made it easier to select smaller Pokémon on the screen.
- Fixed an issue where Eggs would sometimes hatch without displaying the animation.
- Improved performance reliability when a device switches networks to no longer cause the application to hang or stop updating.
- Pokémon GO Plus support
- Minor text fixes.
We continue to focus on eliminating bots and scrapers from Pokémon GO , announced the Pokémon Go Team. “Rooted or jailbroken devices are not supported by Pokémon GO . Remember to download Pokémon GO from the official Google Play Store or iTunes App Store only.”
Minor text fixes... Niantic sure does love to troll it’s player base . I’m upset that this update is so tiny, but excited to try out the Buddy System and for what the future may hold for Pokemon Go. If you weren’t thinking of picking up a Pokemon Go Plus when it comes out next week, here’s something to entice you.
