The Pokémon Company announced plans to distrubute Legendary Pokémon throughout 2018 for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and Sun and Moon.
Similar to the Mythical Pokémon distribution in 2016 for the franchise’s 20th anniversary, each month will see a different Legendary Pokémon gifted to trainers with Gen 7 games via the Mystery Gift or by visiting a local GameStop and picking up a code. Check out the trailer for the Legendary Pokémon distribution below.
“As a thank-you to all the Trainers out there who have been so committed and passionate about Pokémon over the years, we want to make 2018 a legendary year,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International in a press release. “We’re offering fans a chance to access these powerful Legendary Pokémon across the brand while celebrating their role in the franchise’s legacy.”
The first wave will focus on the Gen 4 Legendary Pokémon, Dialga and Palkia. These two behemoths will be distributed via a special code when trainers visit their local GameStop. Here’s the schedule for the Legendary Pokémon distribution:
February - Dialga & Palkia (Gamestop)
March - Regigigas and Heatran
April - Raikou and Entei
May- Xerneas & Yveltal
June - Shiny Zygarde
July - Tornadus & Thundurus
August - Kyogre & Groudon
September Latios & Latias
October - Reshiram & Zekrom
November - Ho-Oh & Lugia.
The 2018 Legendary Pokémon distribution is part of a line wide celebration of these powerful Pokémon. The Pokémon TCG will have products that tie-in with these Legendary Pokémon including new GX cards.
Pokémon Go players will be glad to know that special promotions featuring Legendary Pokémon will also be coming to the popular mobile game. Details on those promotions will release soon.
Currently, the only Legendary Pokémon available in Pokémon Go are Lugia, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, Groudon, Kyogre, Suicune, Entei, Raikou and Mewtwo. Perhaps another chance to capture these timed event Pokémon will occur or the game makes it a little easier to catch them.
