The story of Pokémon Sun and Moon is a vast and deep expedition through the Alola Region. Your trainer will explore and challenge the Island Challenges to become the top trainer in all of Alola.
But did you know that there are a lot of Easter Eggs hidden within the story of Sun and Moon that hint at what is the next game in the Pokémon franchise?

It’s not any surprise that The Pokémon Company likes to remake their older games. They’ve been doing it since Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green and they will continue to do so, according to Junichi Masuda.
That’s good, considering the next Pokémon games will almost certainly be remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl , the Gen 4 games.
How do we know this? Well, if you haven’t played through the Sun and Moon story you may miss these hints but we’ll break it down for you real quick.
SINNOH POKEMON MENTIONS
When you enter Heahea City in the Dimensional Research lab you’ll meet Professor Kukui’s wife, Burnet, who is studying the interdimensional properties of the Ultra Beasts. If you do some exploring and check out the books, you’ll have access to three books.
These books talk about Bronzong, Giratina and Palkia, all Pokémon who have dimensional-shifting powers. And they all come from the Sinnoh region, which is where Diamond and Pearl take place.
RKS SYSTEM
Gladion’s Type: Null will eventually evolve into a Silvally and with it comes the new ability RKS System, which acts like the Multitype ability of Arceus, another Sinnoh Pokémon. This new ability gives Silvally to dish out a different type of attack depending on a special hold item, like Arceus.
Also, in the Aether Foundation you can find the story of Type: Null and it explains how they materials from the Canalave Library in the Sinnoh region.
DISTORTION WORLD
Towards the end of the main story of Sun and Moon , Lusamine will go to the Ultra Beast dimension and you and Lillie will go in after her. Once you enter the Ultra Beast dimension, it harkens back to the Distortion World inhabited by Giratina in Pokémon Platinum .
While this may be a stretch, there’s plenty of parallels to the Ultra Beast dimensions and the Distortion World like how time flows differently in both.
