Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Slightly Mad Studios have just announced that the third installment in the Project CARS series, Project CARS 3, will be launching for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
Through Bandai Namco, details have already been released regarding what fans of the driving simulator franchise should expect. First off, Project CARS 3 will contain over 200 elite-brand race and road cars, over 140 global tracks, a dynamic weather cycle, and a day-and-night cycle that produces different and challenging conditions for racing in. It will also now include scalable assists for those who are veterans and newbies to the series, new tire models that will provide a much more realistic and fun handling experience, improved crash effects, and car to car contact feedback. Lastly, it will also feature enhanced AI behavior, support for 12K resolution and “best-in-class VR support” for the PC.
Career-mode wise, Project CARS 3 now includes a “deeply engaging metagame” that will challenge and motivate players to race hard and earn Credits. These credits can be used for realistic performance parts upgrades that affect handling and power, or for visual upgrades such as a wide array of wheels, tires, body kits, rims, decals, plate numbers, and more. Players will also be able to add exclusive cars to their line-ups once they’ve saved enough. Lastly, Project CARS 3 will introduce Daily Challenges and new multiplayer and community modes.
With all that being said, despite the success of Project CARS 1 and 2, Project CARS 3 has a tall order facing it, what with the impending releases of other iconic driving sim titles such as DiRT 5, F1 2020, and the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 7, which is set to release for the PlayStation 5. Not to mention their other racing title set to release in just a few months, Fast & Furious Crossroads. It’s guaranteed to be a neck-to-neck race for who will be garnering success, both commercial and critical. One thing’s for sure, driving fans all over the world have already won.
Project CARS 3 will launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on August 28.
