A week after its teaser website came up, Capcom has finally released a teaser trailer for its upcoming survival horror game based on Resident Evil lore. Titled Project Resistance, its trailer ran for a minute and 30 seconds and included the return of a terrifying foe from Resident Evil 2.
The clip starts off with a group of four consisting of two guys and two girls, armed with a shotgun, a shiny metal baseball bat, a pistol, and what looks like an axe. This Breakfast Club-eque clique, complete with the stereotypical loner, popular, jock, and nerd archetypes, wander in what looks like an abandoned laboratory, filled with equipment strewn about and bodies inside gigantic test tubes. Unknown to the group, they are being watched by a mysterious figure through a system of cameras.
This mysterious figure, with the press of a button, unleashes upon the group a number of zombies that the group shoots and whacks at for a good 10 seconds. The unknown man, seeing that the four handily defeated the undead, unleashed a Licker for good measure, but alas, they group blasts it away with the help of a convenient bomb.
The trailer ends with the mysterious figure putting on gloves with electronic components. With the flexing of this figure’s fist, it cuts back towards the teens who are now covered in the shadow of Mr. X, complete with his signature trench coat and fedora, also clenching his fist.
Project Resistance has already been confirmed that it will be a team-based survival horror game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, tons of questions are still left unanswered such as: With all the rage regarding asymmetrical PvPs recently, could Project Resistance follow the same path? Also, will cross play be available? One thing that is for sure, though, is that this title will come as a welcome surprise for Resident Evil fans who loved the action-oriented entries.
For those who can’t wait to find out more, information about Project Resistance will be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show 2019 which runs from September 12 to 15 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
