Sony will release a new PS4 update that introduces Remote Play for PC and Mac on April 6. The Remote Play for is compatible with the following system software:

  • Windows 8.1

  • Windows 10 or later

  • OS X 10.10

  • OS X 10.11

You will also have the following resolution and frame rate options, depending on your Internet bandwidth:

  • Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p (Default: 540p)

  • Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps) (Default: Standard)

You must hook up aDualShock 4 controller to your Mac or PC to play PS4 games. Unfortunately, PS4 Remote Play doesn’t give you the option to play games using your keyboard and mouse.

The timing of the Sony’s Remote Play update for the PS4 coincides with the release of the Oculus Rift. It’ll be interesting to see if anyone will successfully be able to use the Rift to play PS4 games, especially since Sony’s own PlayStation VR won’t be available until October.
