July may have felt like a slower month for game releases on PS4 and Xbox One, but that’s only because the months before saw massive titles getting released. August is looking to ramp the excitement back up, especially if you are a PS4 gamer.

Note: This list is compiled of every known release date at the time of publishing. Due to the nature of video game development, these dates are subject to change.

Multi-Platform

These games are coming to both Xbox One and PS4 in August.

The first game coming to both consoles in August is Batman: The Telltale Series - Episode 1: Realm of Shadows. If you like the style of games Telltale makes, you’ll definitely want to give this one a go. The first episode for Batman: The Telltale Series releases on Aug. 2.

Livelock is a top-down shooter taking place in a post-apocalyptic world. The twist here is all humans have been killed, and all that remains are armies of robots, programmed to fight each other until the end of time. Livelock comes out on Aug. 2.

A follow-up to Grow Home, Grow Up will be releasing on Aug. 16. Like the original, players control a robot named BUD who must explore and search for his way back home. To do so, players can grow plants to climb on and get help.

The action of Formula 1 racing is back in F1 2016. Coming out Aug. 19, F1 2016 features truly stunning graphics and some of the best racing action around.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is one of the biggest games of the month, and likes to defy classification. Depending on your play style, it is a stealth game, action game, or first-person shooter. Whatever it is, this RPG will be great when it comes out Aug. 23.

The Worms are back in Worms W.M.D. Playing like the classic games, Worms W.M.D. introduces vehicles and buildings to the mix. Get ready to blow your friends sky-high, or just poke them off a ledge, when this releases on Aug. 23 as well.

The next entry in the Madden series is here yet again, this time featuring Rob Gronkowski as the cover athlete. Expect some slight gameplay changes, a roster update, and maybe some improved presentation options. Madden 17 comes out on Aug. 23.

If you’re in the mood for another racing sim that features all sorts of different racing styles, check out Assetto Corsa when it releases Aug. 30. This game is designed with realism in mind, touting a highly accurate physics engine and myriad customization and modding options.

Yet another Resident Evil remaster, Resident Evil 4 HD returns to consoles on Aug. 30. This spooky game was first released way back on the Wii, and has since seen releases on multiple consoles. Definitely give this a play if you haven’t yet.

The last game coming to PS4 and Xbox One in August is Attack on Titan. This action game focuses on the events of the first season of Attack on Titan, with players fighting to take down the giant man-eating beasts. Attack on Titan hits consoles on Aug. 30.

PS4

These games are coming exclusively to PS4 in August.

Abzû, from the art director of Journey, features underwater exploration and mysteries waiting in its depths. Expect great visuals, interesting gameplay, and an outstanding soundtrack from Austin Wintory when Abzû releases for PS4 and PC on Aug. 2.

Another PS4 and PC release, Tricky Towers is also releasing on Aug. 2. This puzzle game is what happens when you take Tetris and flip it, making people build up a tall tower instead of removing lines when rows are cleared. Oh yeah, couple in some physics and multiplayer, and you have yourself a good time.

The biggest release of August is finally here. Coming to both PS4 and PC, No Man’s Sky looks to change the landscape of online gaming, offering the biggest virtual world ever to explore. No Man’s Sky will be releasing on Aug. 9 for PS4 and Aug. 12 for PC.

Yet another game coming to PS4 and PC, Brutal is a dungeon crawling game with art made entirely from ASCII characters. This is a game you need to see to believe, and it will be available to play starting Aug. 9.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is coming to PS4, PS Vita and PC on Aug. 30. This action RPG was originally released in Japan in 2013, but a revamped version was released two years later. Finally, in 2016, North America will be able to play through God Eater 2: Rage Burst.

Read Only Memories, coming to PS4 and PS Vita, is more an interactive adventure than it is a game. That being said, it still looks cool. Check out Read Only Memories when it releases on Aug. 16.

Bound looks to be a pretty trippy and beautiful platforming game. Taking place in the mind of a woman, players explore memories of childhood, reliving past experiences. Bound is coming to the PS4 on Aug. 16.

King of Fighters XIV is the next game coming to PS4 in August. This fighting game continues the King of Fighters franchise, featuring more than 50 fighters ready to go. This will be coming to North America on Aug. 23.

Alone With You, coming to PS4 and PS Vita on Aug. 23, is a whole mix of different genres ranging from adventure and horror to sci-fi and romance. Stranded in a colony out in space, you and your four companions must solve puzzles to escape.

The last game coming to PS4 in August is Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X. This rhythm game, also coming to PS Vita, will be released on Aug. 30.

Xbox One

The one and only game coming to Xbox One in August will also be coming to PC as well. The Turing Test, releasing Aug. 30, is a first-person puzzle game, looking like a mix between Portal and Myst. Stuck on a research base out in space, players have to fight back against computers to regain control.

Who Wins?

This month, again, is very obvious: PS4. Heck, Xbox One could have one of the best line-ups of the year, and they would still lose. You know why? No Man’s Sky looks like it will be absolutely phenomenal. Add in Abzû and a whole host of other exclusives, and PS4 is the clear August winner.
