PUBG: Battlegrounds is Bringing Back Fantasy Battle Royale

The fun is back. Krafton

Exciting news for those playing PUBG: Battlegrounds! The fan-favorite Fantasy Battle Royale is making a return for a limited period. For the PC it's going to be from July 24 to August 7. Console players get to take part between July 31 to August 14.

Fantasy Battle Royale was first launched way back in March 2020. That was a difficult time not just for gamers but for everyone in the world. As a result, the PUBG Dev team made the decision not to go ahead with the Aprils Fools activities during that year. This resulted in what is now the Fantasy Battle Royale.

This optional event mode has players choose from one of the four fantasy classes that they can take on the Battlegrounds, albeit in a completely different way. In addition to offering much-needed fun amidst all the stress, it was also a way for the team to test new ideas.

For this version, here are the basic rules:

  • Fantasy BR takes place on the Dragon's Isle (Erangel).
  • TPP only, 20 Squads of 4 with a maximum of 80 players per match.
  • Fantasy BR does not support 1-man or 3-man squad but automatically finds suitable companions for players.
  • Friendly fire is disabled.
  • Fantasy BR does not grant XP rewards but BP that's earned is based on the total gameplay time.
  • Fantasy BR matches don't count towards the Survivor Pass. However, Arcade Points are granted.

Other Details

Here are some other details players need to keep in mind:

  • Items
    • Fantasy BR has its own set of world spawn items, which mostly include crafting materials.
    • No weapons, ammo, throwables, boosts, or equipment spawn.
    • Bandages still spawn in the world.
  • Vehicles
    • Only the Noble Steed (motorcycle) and Dragon Wagon (UAZ) spawn in Fantasy BR.
    • Vehicles are slower and have lower durability than in normal BR to keep fights more focused on class warfare.
  • Care Packages
    • Care Packages are dropped more often in Fantasy BR and are marked on the map for all players.
    • Care Packages can contain the Zircon, a powerful gem used to upgrade your gear to Lv.5.
    • Using the interaction key (F) on Care Packages grants a temporary invincibility buff.
      • The Buff lasts for 30 seconds, making you immune to all damage.

Fantasy Battle Royale returns to the game courtesy of upcoming update version 30.2. This same update is also bringing back tactical items which you can learn more about here.

PUBG: Battlegrounds is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
