PUBG Mobile has given some additional insight into its current cheating detection efforts as well as future initiatives that are currently being developed. In particular PUBG Mobile revealed that it has upgraded its anti-cheat system using advanced real-time detection technology.
Since PUBG Mobile was launched back in 2018, the security team had long enforced a zero-tolerance policy when it came to in-game cheating. The goal is, clearly, to have a gaming environment that is both healthy and fair. In order for this to happen, PUBG Mobile has measures in place to remove both hackers and cheaters from the game. For example, the first line of defense against these issues is a system of detection software that can scan for suspect software and modified game data. However, with both cheating and hacking methods constantly evolving, PUBG Mobile knew it needed to employ a large and ever-expanding library to cross-reference when it came to detecting suspicious software.
However, the work to evolve detection technology against hacking and cheating did not stop at simply one line of defense. By making use of observation techniques, the development team has been able to identify players using unfair means in order to get the advantage over others.
The security team also made use of game observation in order to fairly monitor players that have been reported by the system in order to make sure that only players using additional software or other means of hacking and cheating are banned. The team can now efficiently observe gameplay in order to differentiate between the use of unfair software and player skill as well as unusual game occurrences due to lag or packet loss.
To strengthen its commitment in dealing with players hacking and cheating, the development team at PUBG Mobile can now enforce player bans in real-time. Through a combination of observation, player reporting, and detection software, the game can now efficiently and swiftly remove cheaters even mid-match while maintaining a positive gaming experience for other players.
Tencent Game General Manager of Global Publishing Department, Vincent Wang, said in a statement that they want players to know that they are committed to giving everyone a fair gameplay experience. He went on to say that they "take enormous pride in the game we work on every day, and cheaters cheapen all of our work. We’re doing everything possible to keep cheaters out of our game as much as possible, and hundreds of team members are dedicated to this task.”
Since its release, PUBG Mobile has managed to captivate more than 400 million players. Given this large player base, the developers are working around the clock in order to enforce and evolve anti-cheat and hacking measures by making use of cutting-edge software as well as dedicated staff for observational security. PUBG Mobile is available for free on both Android and iOS.
