Netflix and Marvel don’t waste time when it comes to giving fans what they want. It appears Jon Bernthal will get his own series as The Punisher sooner than expected.

A reddit user recently shared a post of what appears to be a screenshot of the Netflix app with a description of The Punisher series. The alleged screenshot claims the show will be released in 2017. Before you get too excited, Bernthal has not been spotted filming any episodes and it’s possible the 2017 date is a place holder.

Of course, Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date for The Punisher . Right now, Marvel and Netflix are hyping up the upcoming Luke Cage spinoff starring Mike Colter, who we first saw in Jessica Jones . Netflix is working on an Iron Fist series as well. Don’t forget Marvel is also slowly building their way towards The Defenders , which also has a 2017 release date, where we’ll see Daredevil, Iron First, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and other Marvel superheroes come together.

Still, it seems a bit soon for a Punisher spinoff, even though Bernthal did a great job with the character. Speaking of Daredevil spinoffs, it’s surprising Marvel fans haven’t been as vocal about an Elektra spinoff. She’s definitely an interesting character whose backstory is worth diving into, especially after the Daredevil Season 2 finale.

Marvel and Netflix are definitely busy through 2018 at the very least. Which Marvel/Netflix series are you looking forward to most? Do you even want to see a Punisher series? Let us know in the comments below.
