Purple War is arriving on Steam Early Access this summer. This should be good news to those looking for a new RTS game to play. Like the classic titles, this online multiplayer RTS game has players manage resources to build troops and facilities and command those troops to win over the opponent.
The game is set in the land of Daivos where humans, elves, and orcs have been living in peace. One day, a supernatural resource called Purple Stone was discovered and this led to the conflicts and started a war that pitted the three races against each other. Players can learn more about each race through the three unique story campaigns.
The game offers single-player and online multiplayer modes. Players control teams and choose their preferred races on the battlefield for matches from 1v1 to 4v4 players. Like the classic RTS games, players need to mine resources to build bases. They also need to recruit troops to take down enemy forces. There are also different tactics to try out like scouting, sneak attacks, disturbing enemy mining resources, and attacking the forward bases with allied players.
The unique units from each of the races make it possible to form and operate troops strategically. The gameplay, according to developer Warlogics, is fast-paced but easy to learn.
In a statement, Purple War Executive Producer Won Joon Chee said that the game is a result of the nostalgia from playing classic RTS games like Command & Conquer, Warcraft 2, and Starcraft. According to Chee, this is their homage to those iconic games. He added that with this game, they hope to inspire a new generation of RTS players by getting the motivation from the classics and applying modern technology and bold visuals.
