The Quake Champions character reveals continue this week without first look at Anarki, a “transhuman punk” addicted to high-tech body mods. Bethesda and id Software also revealed new information about the upcoming Quake Champions closed beta.
Like the rest of the Quake Champions roster, Anarki will have one active and one passive skill that make him just a little bit different from his opponents. The latest addition to the game brings a pair of abilities that should be especially useful to anyone who tends to have trouble escaping from an unwinnable fight. Here’s how id Software describes Anarki’s skills:
Active Ability – Health Injection: Taking too much damage? Good thing for you Anarki is well-versed in various performance enhancing … treatments. Use the Health Injection Active Ability to give Anarki a quick heal mid-match.Juice it up, baby!
Passive Ability – Hoverboard Air Control: Anarki’s hoverboard is a brutal bonus. Anarki is already one of the fastest Champions in the game, but the hoverboard means he can actually gain speed as he strafe-jumps around the Arenas, reaching a ludicrous velocity. In addition, his hoverboard awards a special Passive Ability that allows players more control in mid-air to turn sharply and chase down enemies or escape those who dare follow him up a jump pad.
Thursday also brought new information on the upcoming Quake Champions closed beta. Id says fans can expect the first round of testing to begin on Thursday, April 6. There’s no word on how many testers will be on the first list of invite recipients, but those who read our 2016 talk with Tim Willits might remember that id Software prefers to invite thousands more players to upcoming betas than the studio actually hopes to see online. And additional players will be invited to the Quake Champions closed beta in the following weeks.
