Bethesda and id Software published a new trailer for Quake Champions this week, continuing the map and character previews that began earlier this month, featuring one minute of footage captured in the game’s Burial Chamber arena. It isn’t the closed beta date we were all hoping to hear, but it does at least give Quake fans something new to talk about while they wait to get their hands on the next iteration of the franchise.
We’ve already met two members of the Quake Champions roster, Nyx and Scalebearer, and toured one of the maps (Blood Covenant) we’ll see in the launch build. Now, id Software is taking the Quake community on a brief tour of Burial Chamber, one of several arenas we’ll be able to explore when Quake Champions debuts later this year. The map features a handful of environmental hazards, like massive pools of lava, and massive rooms with little (or no) cover. It’s hard to know how each map feature will emphasize each character’s individual skills, since we’ve only met two so far, but even casual Quake fans should be able to spot a few good ambush points in this week’s Burial Chamber preview.
