Rainbow Six Siege APAC 2021 Playoffs has finished its first playday. The team that gets first and second place will qualify for the Six August 2021 Major, which is held in Mexico. All these matches are being played online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Pittsburgh Knights and CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming have already qualified by taking the first seed in their respective APAC North/South Leagues.
Fnatic vs. Invictus Gaming
The match between these two teams was played on Oregon, which is a defender-sided map. Fnatic banned Ying on the attack, which is a really useful operator to clear out objectives. Invictus started the game really strong as they won four rounds on defense and only dropped two rounds in the first half. This resulted in a 4-2 split. Fnatic tried to retaliate on defense but Invictus had much better gunfights, which allowed them to take the map with a 7-3 scoreline.
Matin “SpeakEasy” Yunos from Invictus Gaming carried his team with 16 kills, while the rest of his team was sitting in single-digit kills. This match sends Fnatic to the lower bracket and Invictus will continue to round two.
QConfirm vs. FAV gaming
These two teams decided to play on Villa, which is a defender-sided map and requires a lot of coordination. The Dokkaebi and Echo ban from QC was to prevent their opponents from clutching the round in the final few seconds. Echo can deny the plant and Dokkaebi’s gadget makes it easier to hear enemies as their phones ring. The first half was tied with a 3-3 score. However, QC was able to win on the attack by playing aggressively. QC was able to close the game by winning four rounds, which led to a 7-5 scoreline. The victory of QC sends them to round two, while FAV gaming will proceed to the lower brackets to face another team.
The South Asian teams, KIRA E-sports and MercenarieZ, head toward the lower brackets after their losses.
