Rainbow Six Siege APAC 2021 Playoffs has finished its third game in the lower brackets. The team that gets first and second place will qualify for the Six August 2021 Major, which is held in Mexico. All these matches are being played online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Pittsburgh Knights and CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming have already qualified by taking the first spots in their respective APAC North/South Leagues.
Invictus Gaming vs. Fnatic
The best of three maps started out on Consulate, which is an attacker-sided map. Both teams are considered the titans of APAC, which makes the match the most exciting in the entire playoffs. Invictus banned Twitch on the attack to counter Fnatic’s aggressive playstyle. The Twitch ban is pretty decent as she has a really strong gun and good utility to clear sites. Invictus started strong on defense as they won five rounds in a row, and they only dropped one round in the first half. The first half resulted in a 5-1 scoreline. After the side switch, Fnatic tried changing playstyles, which got them two rounds. But Invictus was far ahead in the score that allowed them to win the game by taking the final two rounds. Invictus won the map with a 7-3 scoreline.
The second map was played on Clubhouse, which is a defender-sided map. Fnatic banned Thatcher and Invictus banned Maverick, which makes it very difficult for the attacking side to get the walls open. Invictus once again started strong on defense as they got four rounds, and only dropped two rounds in the first half. This resulted in a 4-2 split. Invictus kept their momentum and finished the game by winning the remaining three rounds on the attack. Invictus won the final map with a 7-2 scoreline.
While it was exciting to see the titans of APAC clash against each other, it was daunting to see Fnatic lose this early and without much of a fight. Fnatic’s loss ends their chance to qualify for the Six Major. While Invictus has moved to the lower bracket finals.
