The next entry in the long-running Rainbow Six franchise just got a name change. Rainbow Six Quarantine will now be called Rainbow Six Extraction. This change is due to the ongoing pandemic that caused a good part of the world to go on an actual lockdown, and honestly, we all saw this coming. Quarantine was already renamed as Parasite for internal use by Ubisoft.
The developer of the game has also released the game’s second trailer. Sprawl Teaser released yesterday shows off a Venom-like fungus that is spreading across a room. More information about the game will be revealed during Ubisoft Forward scheduled on June 12 at 3 p.m. EST.
The June 12’s event will finally reveal the gameplay, and hopefully, the release date. The title has been delayed several times internally. It’s also revealed that the event will not feature any news regarding The Division 2 or Division Heartlands. I wouldn’t hold my breath for Skull and Bones or Beyond Good and Evil 2 either. What you can expect to know more are about Far Cry 6, Riders Republic, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla post-launch content.
Rainbow Six Extraction is inspired by the time-limited mode Outbreak event from Rainbow Six Siege. In the game mode, a team of three players pushes through an infected zone and completes several missions. At one time they even saved Jager and multiple aspects were taken from Siege. It’s obvious that Ubisoft was checking if there’s a player interest in a co-op game based in the Siege universe.
Rainbow Six Extraction will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2021. A few months ago, the system requirements of the game were leaked as well. Keep in mind that this is a leak and not an official announcement, plus, the title is still in development so system requirements are subject to change.
