Rainbow Six Siege APAC North League Stage 2 has finished its sixth playday. The team that gets first place from this region will qualify for the Six August 2021 Major, which is held in Mexico. While the second to fourth placer will go to the Playoffs and face the teams from APAC South. All these matches are being played online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Fnatic vs. GUTS Gaming
The matchup between these two teams was played on Consulate, which is an attacker-sided map. The Nomad ban by Fnatic was to make sure running around the map won't risk aggressive plays from the enemy. Similarly, Valkyrie was banned by GUTS to ensure Fnatic won't have much intel to play while roaming. GUTS started out strong on defense by winning four rounds and only dropping two, which resulted in the first half 4-2 in favor of GUTS.
Fnatic was unable to win gunfights against GUTS, which made it even more difficult for the former to win rounds after the side switch. GUTS won the match with a 7-5 scoreline that secured fourth place in the leaderboards. The loss for Fnatic puts them in third place but it doesn't matter since they are already qualified for the Six Major playoffs.
CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming vs. Talon Esports
This matchup was another exciting match and it was played on Kafe Dostoyevsky. Talon banned Vigil on defense as a target ban to a CAG member. The first half resulted in a 3-3 split, which was good for both teams. However, CAG was able to switch gears and dominate in the second half, which was defense, thanks to a more aggressive playstyle. CAG just had to move around the map and it was enough to put a lot of pressure on Talon. This match was a win for CAG with a 7-4 scoreline.
CAG is now first place on the leaderboards and guaranteed a spot in the Six Major without going through Playoffs. Talon’s loss set them back to seventh place.
