Rainbow Six Siege European League Stage 2 has finished its sixth playday. The top four teams from this region will qualify for the Six August 2021 Major, which is held in Mexico. The European League is currently being played online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
G2 Esports vs. UnKnights
This matchup was supposed to be an easy victory for G2, as UnKnights were placed second last in the leaderboards and were underperforming. However, UnKnights were prepared to face G2 on Clubhouse when it took the matches all the way to overtime. G2 started the first half with four wins on defense with Jake "Virtue" Grannan clutching an insane 1v3 post-plant situation on round two as Jager.
After the side switch, Unknights were able to bring the game back on defense, which allowed them to go to overtime. G2 completely adapted to UnKnights in the final few rounds and won the game with an 8-7 scoreline, which was closer than anyone expected. This win allowed G2 to claim the first spot on the leaderboards.
Team Vitality vs. Natus Vincere
These two teams decided to play on Clubhouse, and most of the viewers thought Na'Vi would demolish Vitality. However, this was not the case as Vitality destroyed Na'Vi with a 7-1 scoreline. Vitality countered Na'Vi pretty well, which led to the latter’s defeat.
This match dropped Na'Vi from first place all the way to fourth. The loss from this match would make it very difficult for Na'Vi to come back up if the other teams catch up.
Team Empire vs. Cowana Gaming
The matchup against these two teams was played on Consulate, which is an attacker-sided map. The Nomad ban from Empire ensured that Cowana couldn't play aggressively on defense. Empire had a good start on the attack with four rounds won and two rounds lost. Empire’s score advantage put pressure on Cowana, which led the latter to make the wrong moves. Empire won the match with a 7-3 scoreline and moved them to third place on the leaderboard.
