Rainbow Six Siege Mexico Major is halfway through the playoffs, and only four teams remain in the tournament. All matches are played in a single-elimination, best-of-three format.
Team Liquid vs. Team oNe eSports
Match 1
The first match was played on Oregon, which is a defender-sided map. Team Liquid banned Ying on attack, to prevent attackers from taking control of the bomb site easily. Ying is an operator very useful in the final few seconds, and defenders usually can’t counter this because most of the projectile denial gadgets would have already been taken care of.
Team oNe started on defense and won four rounds in the first half, which is pretty good. The first half resulted in a 4-2 scoreline. After the side switch, Liquid started winning defense rounds as they seemed more comfortable in this position. Liquid only dropped one round in the second half and won the last five. Liquid won the first map with a 7-5 scoreline.
Match 2
The second match was played on Coastline. This map favors teams who have superior gunfighting skills and aggressive playstyles. So, it is known to be a 50-50 as any team can win if they get enough kills. Team oNe started on defense. Their strategies relied much on roaming, which made it difficult for Liquid to take control of the site.
This allowed oNe to take the first half with a 4-2 scoreline. After the side switch, Liquid played a similar roam setup on defense and started taking rounds. However, Team oNe’s score advantage allowed them to close the game much faster. Team oNe won the match with a 7-5 scoreline.
Match 3
The final match was played on Consulate, which is an attacker-sided map. Both these teams have played Consulate a lot, especially Team Liquid. So, most viewers expected Liquid to take the win because of their experience. This was not the case after Team oNe flawlessly won every single round. They took the final map with a 7-0 scoreline, beating one of the best LATAM teams without mercy.
