When it came to taking down reinforced walls in Rainbow Six Siege, Thermite's special breaching charge made him your main man. However, as the Year 2 Season 2 statistics have shown, Hibana's pick-rate rapidly surpassed Thermite as the meta continues to evolve. The SAT operator's X-KAIROS launcher performs a similar function as Thermite, but with added range combined with her 3-speed rating, it's clear Hibana can be a more versatile option.

However, despite the growing preference for Hibana, players are also reporting plenty of bugs and malfunctions regarding the X-KAIROS launcher. Generally speaking, Ubisoft noticed that high latency or poor network connection can affect Hibana's gadget in undesirable ways. However, solving the issue proved to be a complicated task.

According to Ubisoft, Hibana is a very unique operator due to the sheer number of net objects: her body, her gadget, and each individual X-KAIROS pellet makes a total of eight net objects at a time. What's more, Hibana can fire her six pellets a total of three times to make 18. Finally, each pellet can be individually shot to blow different types of patterns on the wall. With the multiple phases, explained Siege Animation Programmer Alex Busby, Hibana's gadget may be more prone to errors on the servers.

So how will Ubisoft fix Hibana's X-KAIROS? Apparently, she will require a major rehaul. In its Rainbow Six blog, the team announced the streamlining of how Hibana's net objects will be dealt.

“The fixes that we’ve done have moved a lot of the stuff to be Host Authority while trying to maintain as much of the reactiveness and responsiveness as we can," Busby explained. "That has been the main trend of the fix. We isolated where it can go wrong or where it can go out of synch, and we’ve pushed the gadget to be more and more host authority.”

So when exactly can we expect the new patch update for Hibana to go live? Ubisoft confirmed the next Rainbow Six Siege update 2.2.1.1 is expected to go live on Tuesday, July 11.
