Earlier this week, we saw teasers for the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Operation Red Crow update that revealed a new "Skyscraper" map as well as a new attack operator, Hibana. On Wednesday, Rainbow Six revealed defense operator Echo. Check out Echo's Red Crow teaser in the video below:
According to the R6 bio, Japan’s Special Assault Team (S.A.T.) defender Masaru "Echo" Enatsu was born in Suginami City, Tokyo, and was recruited to S.A.T. Enatsu's slogan is, "Being efficient is just being lazy, but in a clever way."
According to R6 scriptwriter Farah Daoud-Brixi, the idea behind creating Echo was to celebrate "Japan’s influence on modern technology."
“It was an opportunity to experiment with the military gear we designed and push them further.”
As we saw from the teaser trailer, Echo is operating some kind of quadcopter drone, although its capabilities are unknown at the time. Personally, I would be pretty disappointed if Echo's flying drone is only armed with passive surveillance abilities. What would be interesting to see is a "homing" ability that can chase after an enemy and explode when it reaches proximity (think portable "Bomber" without the heavy mouth breathing).
Echo's loadout is designed with superior Close Quarter Battle ability in mind. Primary weapons are the SuperNova and MP5SD4 firearms while secondaries include the PM9 and P229.
Be sure to also check out our past stories that share details regarding attack operator Yumiko "Hibana" Imagawa as well as the new "Skyscraper" map. Rainbow Six is slated to showcase the PC & Xbox One Pro League Finals on Nov. 12 and 13, where more information regarding the Red Crow operators are expected to be released.
