Rainbow Six Siege’s biggest event for 2021, the Six Invitational held in Paris, concluded its first playday in upper brackets for playoffs. The double-elimination format groups allowed every team that lost from the upper bracket to have another run in the lower bracket. All the matches are played in a best of three format, which makes it really competitive.
The majority of the upper bracket of the Six Invitational was held by Brazilian teams. The LATAM region showed impressive strength in matches and even knocked out the strongest EU and NA teams.
Match 1: Team Empire vs. Oxygen Esports
Team Empire had a near-flawless run in Group A but they were unable to close out their game against Oxygen Esports. OXG targeted banned the operator Ash to reduce Empire's firepower. This move worked as Oxygen won Oregon with a 7-4 scoreline, and Clubhouse with a 7-5 scoreline.
Match 2: Team Liquid vs. MIBR
Made In Brazil surprised everyone by knocking Team Liquid off from the upper brackets. Liquid’s aggression and coordination made it one of the scariest LATAM teams, but MIBR won both maps with a really close score. MIBR took Chalet with an 8-7 scoreline and Consulate with a 7-5 scoreline.
Match 3: BDS Esports vs. Ninjas In Pyjamas
BDS Esports is the strongest team in Europe and they also had a near-perfect run in Group A. On the other hand, NIP had a decent standing in the group stages, which led people to think they were no threat. However, NIP played very aggressively and BDS could not counter the former on the spot. BDS won the first map, Coastline with a 7-5 scoreline yet they lost the other two maps, Clubhouse and Consulate with respective 4-7 and 7-8 scorelines.
Match 4: Team SoloMid vs. FaZe Clan
FaZe won Coastline and Kafe Dostoyevsky with respective 7-3 and 8-7 scorelines, only dropping Chalet in the best of three series.
