The return of Ratchet & Clank on PS4 is already a beautiful game, but it’s about to look even better with the PS4 Pro. Insomniac Games took to the PlayStation Blog to reveal all the upgrades the third-person shooter will be getting Nov. 10.
4K resolution will be coming to those who have the proper TV to view such a thing. Additionally, Ratchet & Clank will have HDR support using an HDMI 2.0 cable. If you have a PS4 Pro, but only have a 1080p TV, you’ll still be able to see “a big increase in gameplay image quality” according to James Stevenson, the community manager at Insomniac.
To get a better-looking game on the same TV, Insomniac is using a new process called Temporal Injection. As Stevenson put it, this will allow for a higher resolution display that also eliminates anti-aliasing issues and jaggies.
Those with an HDR-enabled TV that will be playing Ratchet & Clank on a regular PS4 or PS4 Slim will also be able to use the HDR features of the game without upgrading to the PS4 Pro.
Insomniac also mentions they are utilizing the power of the PS4 Pro while developing the still-untitled Spider-Man game. There still is no release date or even a release window for Spider-Man, so we’ll be seeing this game released when Insomniac is good and ready.
In case you haven’t heard, 35 other PS4 games alongside Ratchet & Clank will be ready to go on PS4 Pro when the console launches on Nov. 10. Over 45 will be released by the end of the year that take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s upgraded hardware.
So what do you think? Are you excited to play through Ratchet & Clank on PS4 Pro? What other games are you excited to see looking great in 4K? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
