Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, the prequel to 2015 indie hit Rebel Galaxy, will soon see its PC release on August 13. It will launch exclusively via the Epic Games Store as announced by developer Double Damage Games.
Rebel Galaxy’s gameplay revolves around the player commandeering an immensely powerful star destroyer. While in space, you will battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. The open-world sci-fi adventure will let you choose how you approach the game, whether you become a roguish do-gooder, crafty space merchant, power-hungry mercenary, or become a jack-of-all trades.
In Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, you will follow the story of Juno Markev, the aunt of the player created character from Rebel Galaxy. Tired and weary from a life of pirating and smuggling, Juno finally decides on going straight and settling down for a peaceful life, but in fate’s twisted humor, a series of unfortunate events drag her back in the game. The official story description goes like this: "After an encounter in a shady watering hole goes bad, your ship is trashed, and you find yourself in debt to an old friend and casino owner who gives you a rustbucket and some words of advice."
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is packed with a full single player story campaign that has players encountering and interacting with pirates, cops, lowlifes, and a number of other colorful characters from all corners of the universe. Getting enough loot and cash will allow you to outfit your ship with aesthetic, weapon, and armor upgrades. If gambling’s your bag, you can put your valuables on the line by playing 8-ball, dice poker, slot machines, and arcade games. And while traveling throughout space, you can chill out and listen to Subspace Radio with seven station containing over 21 hours of music, DJ’s and commercials.
The open-world space based sci-fi game will be releasing on August 13 via the Epic Games Store. Currently, it is available for pre-order for $29.99. PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions will follow “in the coming months”, but no date has been confirmed as of this writing by Double Damage Games.
