Red Dead Redemption 2, or whatever the next Red Dead game will be called, has been rumored for months now. There’s been map leaks, Backward Compatibility hiccups and all sorts of other hints pointing towards the announcement of a new game. A fiscal report Rockstar publisher Take-Two posted online today adds fuel to those rumors, and if a new Red Dead game isn’t in the works at Rockstar, then something else is and it’s about to get announced.
While the majority of the Take-Two report deals with boring money stuff, there’s an update about what Rockstar has been working on since Jan. 1. The majority of the bullet points in the list detail the updates made to GTA Online, but the last one reads as follows:
Rockstar Games also is hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon.
So what ‘future projects’ could Rockstar be working on? The obvious answer is the Red Dead sequel. Insiders have claimed the leaked map is legit, and it even lines up with the map from Red Dead Redemption. Nothing official has been confirmed or denied about the map yet, so that should still be treated like a rumor until proven otherwise.
If Rockstar isn’t about to reveal a new Red Dead, what could be coming instead? It’s possible we could be seeing an LA Noire 2, which would be amazing given how much more impressive facial animation technology has become in the past few years.
Another possibility, although HIGHLY unlikely, would be a return of Agent. Rockstar announced the stealth action game way back in 2007, but nothing concrete has really surfaced from the project since. This one is definitely a long shot, and would be the biggest surprise if it is Rockstar's project.
So what do you think? Will Rockstar announce the next Red Dead game at E3 this year? Do you think this future project will be something else? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
