Red Dead Redemption’s sequel may be finally getting announced soon. In a fiscal report from publisher Take-Two, it was mentioned that Rockstar is getting ready to make some moves.
The report, which can be read online, said Rockstar’s plans in the “Business and Product Highlights” section of the report. If you don’t feel like clicking through, the major bullet point reads as follows: “ Rockstar Games also is hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon.”
Now, we don’t know for sure if any of these future projects are Red Dead in some way. Based on the rest of the report, there are high praises for GTA Online, specifically for how much it continues to earn money for the company. If Take-Two is solely focused on profits, it might push for more GTA goodness before charting off into other games.
What we DO know for sure is that Rockstar will continue to make free updates for GTA Online. We just saw the latest update, called Cunning Stunts, get released recently. According to the financial report, “We plan to continue to support our titles with an array of innovative offerings designed to promote ongoing engagement and drive recurrent consumer spending, including additional free content for Grand Theft Auto Online.” So yeah, expect even more.
If leaks and other clues are any indication, though, Red Dead Redemption 2, or whatever the game will be called, is at least in the works. We’ve seen multiple leaks, and confirmations that those leaks are legit. That being said, these are still rumors, and there’s been no concrete announcements from Rockstar or Take-Two on the matter. Rockstar has made Red Dead Redemption Backward Compatible on Xbox One though, which would help with promoting a sequel.
Looks like we’ll all just have to wait on Rockstar and the reveal that’s coming “soon” to know for sure what is coming next.
