In partnership with Dutch-based SOEDESCO, publisher Darril Arts and developer Stormind Games will be releasing a retail version of the survival horror game Remothered: Tormented Fathers. This news has probably been expected already by critics and fans alike, as the indie horror title was released to overwhelming critical acclaim early this year.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a realistic survival horror game with players taking on the role of Rosemary Reed, a fascinating 35-year old woman. She reaches the house of a Richard Felton and investigates the disappearance of a girl named Celeste. Upon reaching the house, the woman is greeted by Gloria, the caretaker of the elderly Felton. Once Dr. Felton realizes Rosemary’s arrival comes with intentions, the horror starts to creep in.
The game includes a mix of stealth, action, and puzzle gameplay. You can choose to outrun, hide or use virtually anything inside the house to your advantage so that you can keep your attackers at bay and continue your investigation. Sound also plays a very important role for your survival as sound effects such as suspenseful music or something as mundane as faint footsteps can give you an edge.
If you haven’t already, and you consider yourself a fan of the genre, Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a title that shouldn’t be missed. It blends amazing atmosphere with a very innovative and unique take on the usual narrative to create one of the best-written horrors I’ve ever played.
Remothered: Tormented Fathers originally began in 2009 as an indie game from the ideas of Chris Darril, game designer, director and artist. Initially a one-man show, the 2D game gained traction after creating fans from all over the world. After a few years, Darril partners up with three of his friends to create and fund Darril Arts with the aim of releasing Remothered. Its partnership with Stormind Games, an Italian development studio that specializes in story-driven titles finally resulted in the subsequent launch and success for Remothered: Tormented Fathers.
The game is currently available digitally for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and will be out for the Switch on July 26. The physical release for the three aforementioned consoles will be, fittingly, on October 31.
