Publisher Headup Games has just announced that their upcoming shoot em-up side-scrolling title Rigid Force Redux will be blasting its way soon to consoles with confirmed release dates for the Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.
Rigid Force Redux is the revamped version of the original Rigid Force Alpha shmup released for the PC in August of 2018. Following the signature elements of classic shmups, Rigid Force Redux is a force to be reckoned with in the genre with “its lovingly hand-crafted 3D models, stunning environments, detailed effects and an electrifying Synthwave soundtrack.” Players battle it out with a unique assortment of enemies such as swarms of small ships, heavy gunships, laser toting mechs, and giant alien creatures, each with their own unique moves and skills that players need to learn and strategize against.
Multiple modes are available starting with the Main Mission, which takes up the bulk of the main game. The main mission is made up of six different bullet-filled levels. Arcade Mode is the next one, which is for the competitive players and allows for setting high scores for each level and a chance at ranking on the global leaderboards. The Boss Rush Mode is similar in that the better you do, the higher you rank up on the leaderboards. Lastly, there are 40 achievements for players to collect. Shmups have always been about challenging gameplay with a steep learning curve, and Rigid Force Redux tries not to be different, but instead presents more challenges and objectives for shoot em-up purists to collect and complete.
Rigid Force Redux will launch for the Xbox One via the Microsoft Store and the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop on June 5 for $19.99. Aside from Rigid Force Redux, publisher Headup Games has also recently announced another title for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Titled Outbuddies DX, it is a metroidvania set under the sea that will have players navigating procedurally generated caverns and maps. It will be made available via the Microsoft Store and the Nintendo eShop for the Xbox One and the Switch on the same date, June 5.
