To no one’s surprise, previous leaks were accurate. The highly rumored GTA Trilogy Remastered has finally been confirmed by Rockstar. The compilation titled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be released in 2021 on major platforms. It will contain remasters of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.
GTA Remastered Platform
The trilogy was announced via a tweet. A post about the compilation is also up and running. The developer revealed that the game is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. Android and iOS versions are also planned and expected to arrive sometime in 2022.
Difference from Original Release
Rockstar has not confirmed what kind of improvements you can expect from the remasters. We haven’t even seen a single screenshot of the game yet. More information about the technical aspects of the remasters will be revealed at a later date.
Given Rockstar’s history, I would expect them to remove some radio songs. They have done this in the re-release of GTA 4 due to copyright reasons.
Previous Leaks and Rumors
GTA Remastered Trilogy was all but confirmed a few days ago. Prominent leakers revealed that the compilation was in development at Rockstar Dundee. The three games were also rated by the South Korean Rating Board. If the leak weren’t accurate, then it would have been the biggest bamboozle of the year.
GTA 5 Remastered
The three above-mentioned GTA games aren’t the only ones getting remastered. We all know that the highly successful, GTA 5, is getting a remaster treatment for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The remasters of GTA 5 and GTA Online will arrive in March 2022. The exact release date is likely to be announced at a later date.
