It’s been more than half a year since we learned Disney Interactive was scrapping Disney Infinity, the popular toys-to-life series that cost the company more than $100 million, and we’re still learning new information about unfinished Disney Infinity sets that won’t ever see the light of day.
Kotaku spotted recently uploaded artwork from B Allen, one of several artists who helped design figures for the Disney Infinity franchise, showing off a digital sculpture of the finished Baze Malbus figure he’d designed for Avalanche. Malbus is apparently one of several figures from the film that was nearly ready for production when Disney Interactive scrapped the series. The site says “most of” the crew from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would’ve appeared in a corresponding playset. It’s probably safe to assume we’d have seen a villain or two as well. Maybe a new Darth Vader figure, or just a smaller version of the 15-inch premium figure that was in the works, like we saw for Captain America with the Marvel Battlegrounds set?
Unfortunately, none of the figures or the Rogue One play set will ever make it to retail. As was reported last year, Disney Infinity is no more and even its multiplayer services are only a few months away from being shuttered entirely. Those interested in learning more about the scrapped Star Wars toys can check out Kotaku’s story on the matter or head over to B Allen’s Artstation portfolio to see an array of artwork and sculptures from the Disney Infinity product line, running the gamut from Venom to Judy Hopps.
