Rogue One represents a departure from the past Star Wars films in many ways. Rogue One is also the first Star Wars feature to not have a soundtrack created by legendary composer John Williams. The movie originally assigned Alexandre Desplat to the task, but major Rogue One reshoots that changed the movie's story and tone caused the studio to replace Desplat with Michael Giacchino just three months ahead of the movie's scheduled release. In fact, Giacchino revealed he only had four weeks to create the soundtrack.
