There are rumors flying around all over the place regarding the possibility of Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC. It started when Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC was mentioned on the LinkedIn Profile of a physics programmer working at Rockstar Games.
While everyone (myself included) is getting really excited about this latest development, it's hard not to be a little skeptical. Earlier this year, in a rather unwelcome sort of April Fool's Joke, rumors started spreading on the internet that Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC would be announced sometime in April, and that the game would be available on PC as soon as July of this year. I'm going to admit I fell for that - maybe not because I didn't really think about it, but because I wanted it too much.
Fortunately, however, this time around there's a lot more evidence to back up the possibility that Red Dead Redemption 2 is in fact making its way to PC. One of the latest pieces of evidence is the aforementioned LinkedIn Profile from someone who supposedly worked with Rockstar Games Toronto until 2016. It's not much to go on, but definitely opens up a lot of speculation and discussion. Was there originally a PC version planned, but it didn't pan out? Did this guy really work for Rockstar back in 2016 when Red Dead Redemption 2 was undoubtedly still in development? Is there a PC version that's currently in the works, or was in the works, but abandoned for some other project?
Of course, right now it's anybody's guess, and the best advice is probably to take everything you're hearing with a grain of salt. Truth is, there is no hard evidence and while there's been leaks of a PC version with graphics options, while there's data-mined information pointing to a PC version, and while Take-Two Interactive's stance on the matter is definitely sketchy, I don't want to hold out for hope.
But secretly, Red Dead Redemption 2 is all I've wanted since last Christmas.
