Sailor Moon and the Inner Senshi are quite literally caught between Tuxedo Mask and Fiore in the new box art for Sailor Moon R: The Movie’s upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release.
If you didn’t get a chance to experience Sailor Moon R: The Movie during its limited theatrical release back in January and February, you’re in luck, because the remastered version is slated for a home video release April 18. We loved seeing it on the big screen, and wrote in our review, “It’s got all the affecting moments of friendship, romance and excitement of a season-ending cluster of episodes, but feels more directional and tightly edited. It’s all killer, no filler, in other words.”

Up until now, we’ve only had provisional cover art, featuring our favorite heroine in a standard-issue pose on a pink background. But now, English-language distributor Viz Media has finalized what the packaging will look like, and the images keep to the spirit of the original film without looking like recycled versions of the 1990s stuff. Overall, it looks pretty darn great, with the girls front and center in a sea of Xenian flowers as Fiore and Tuxedo Mask exchange fierce glares at one another. Check it out below.
Amazon has both the DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo pack editions available to preorder for $19.99 and $29.99 respectively. At the time of writing, Right Stuf Anime offers more of a discount, with the DVD going for $17.98 and the Blu-ray/DVD combo priced at $26.98.
